N.B. reporting of the edit history is currently fairly unclear and misleading. Most edits made to specimens appear as a pair of 'add' and 'delete' entries, which may not be together in the list. There are also often 'minor' edits, which are made automatically (rather than due to user activity), for example to merge synonym names.

This day in Cranleigh the database has four entries, and all for Viola lactea.
Collector has been given as T.G. Lawn, J G Lock, and J.G. Lown. There are no other specimens from any of these three. J G Lock, however, is the only one with an entry in Kent and Allen so I would go for him (and probably edit the others to be in line).

It's unlike to be the Kent&Allen J.G. Lock, who is listed as active in 1864 - which is usually a fairly accurate guide and far earlier than the Kew violas.

I don't have a better suggestion though and can't find any likely names in Kew's online catalogue.

BSBI yearbook 1949
James Gunson Lawn

plus the Dorset Natural History Proceedings .....
has an entry for a "Dr J G Lawn" in 1958

Well researched! I've updated the Kew violas.
