I had no luck locating this particular Pen-y-lan, of which there are a number; nor did Wade's other specimens give a clue

There's a road name Coed-y-gores around a school in Llanedeyrn at OS ST203804. On the OS New Popular Edition 1:63360 sheet 154 - Cardiff 1945, before the area was built on this appears as the name of a wood, the nearest village being Pen-y-lan. All now Cardiff suburb, but west of the Rhymney River so in VC41.
