N.B. reporting of the edit history is currently fairly unclear and misleading. Most edits made to specimens appear as a pair of 'add' and 'delete' entries, which may not be together in the list. There are also often 'minor' edits, which are made automatically (rather than due to user activity), for example to merge synonym names.

I still wonder whether E carnea is the right name. The specimens entered on H@H as E carnea 'Winter Heath', seem to be all 'E mediterranea' ie Irish Heath, E erigena in Stace 2. I don't know whether this has changed in Stace 3. Stace 2 does not list E carnea (nor does CTW2), but his reference to 'E erigena x E carnea = E x darleyensis' of garden origin introduced in England and not found in Ireland, suggests he sees E carnea as a species not occurring in Britain or Ireland. CTW2 gives E mediterranea (erigena) as occurring in Portugal, Spain and W France. I don't know whether the Cornish garden escape of Davey may also be E x darleyensis which is not in CTW2, and in Stace2 seems to be given as wild in W Cornwall only after the 1930s.

Stace 3 says: "E. carnea [under Other species] is the commonest cultivated winter/spring-flowering sp. and may persist and vegetatively spread after neglect; it differs from E. erigena as does E x darleyensis, but is even less robust with weak trailing or decumbent stems, and differs from both in having the flanges of tissue running from each leaf-base down to the next lower one scarcely changing in prominence along their length, rather than conspicuously narrowing downwards."

Thanks, I'll suggest a re-edit of the name to E erigena on 'help & support'
