It seems many C E Britton labels have dates in which both the day and month are expressed in Roman numerals. This can lead to confusion when the day is the 2nd of the month, many instances of II being recorded as the 11th rather than 2nd.
Here Britton writes 2nd August 1907 as II.VIII.1907:

I thought it was a convention in certain circles (e.g. at the Bar) to write the date with the day of the month in Arabic numerals and the number of the month in Roman numerals. |

Many collectors adhere to the Arabic-day/Roman-month convention, e.g. SH Bickham, writing 11th July 1910, below. It was only after several CE Britton sheets that I realised he was an exception, and had fooled me. I have been through all his sheets and checked all the 11ths, correcting as necessary.
