N.B. reporting of the edit history is currently fairly unclear and misleading. Most edits made to specimens appear as a pair of 'add' and 'delete' entries, which may not be together in the list. There are also often 'minor' edits, which are made automatically (rather than due to user activity), for example to merge synonym names.

Does anyone recognise this location? I assume Scotland, maybe Inverness

I have found a reference to a Meric Wood nursery at Downfield which seems to be in Dundee - where Gardiner did collect. I have made a note that it is tentative though.

In The flora of Forfarshire 1847 version, Mericmoor Wood is mentioned several times and described as 'now cut down'.

At the grid reference which Sarah gives, on the OS map of 1856 is Americanmuir, and there is still an Americanmuir Road on the modern street map. Coincidence?
