ocrnotes: | By the Findhorn side, near Logie, Nairn, 95, The only form noticed in this locality, where it was very abundant. The flowers, which are spoiled in drying, are of a beautiful golden yellow, even to the tube. The bracts are but slightly toothed, the capsule frequently suberect, and the flowers assume a much more erect position than is usual in pratense forms. The flowers were of the exact size of those of var. montanum (Johnst.), which was the prevailing moorland form of Easterness. The corolla is not closed. At first I was inclined to refer this to the var. luteum, Blytt, but Rev. F. Wood informs me that luieum has very toothed bracts, and numerous whorls of flowers. It is a common plant of the birch zone, in Norway. In Britain, Mans has now been reported from Wigton, Northumberland, Cumberland, Westmoreland, and Nairn.--G. Claridge Druce. |
