ocrnotes:Salix alba, L., var. Newpool, Malvern Wells, Worcestershire. I send a further supply of this var. of alba (see Ex. Club Rep., 1885). The catkins shorter and stouter than those of the type, and the scales much longer and more pointed, resembling a good deal the scales upon female catkins.-R. F. Towndrow, " Specimen imperfect, as there are no mature leaves. Nearest to, and probably a form of, S. alba, L., though the catkins (3) suggest a cross with S.fragilis."--F. Buchanan White.
