Biography

On staff of Cambridge Botanic Garden 1870–1922 as 'the assistant'. In 1877 his wages rose from 9s (£0.45) to 12s (£0.60) a week. In 1895 he was earning an annual wage of £90. First Vice-President of 'The New Museums Club' (equivalent of staff union). Recorded as having found Stellaria media var neglecta at Hinxton in April 1915 (Nature in Cambridgeshire no. 35 1993, page 61).
