Biography
Danish botanist from Randers who was educated at Copenhagen University.
Ingolf Expedition to the North Atlantic (Iceland and Greenland; 1895-1896).
MSc botany 1897.
PhD disseration on the botany of the Faroe Islands.
1900-1918 Curator at the Botanical Museum in Copenhagen.
1902 co-author of Flora Arctica (part I) with O Gelert.
Appointed professor of botany at the Agricultural College 1918.
1923 professor at Copenhagen University.
1911 Ostenfeld joined the International Phytogeographic Excursion to the British Isles, studying the flora of Ireland (Killarney, Connemara and The Burren).
1914 to Australia sponsored by the British Association for the Advancement of Science, but tour of Australia limited to Western Australia because of accident.
Visited Indonesia (Java and Sabang) during return journey.
Died 16 January 1931, Copenhagen.
