Biography
James F. Grant of Wick, of whom Arthur Bennett in an article called "NOTES ON THE FLORA OF CAITHNESS AND SUTHERLAND" says "For the additions to the Caithness Flora, I am indebted for a series of specimens, and notes on them, from Mr. James Grant, of Wick (who mentions Mr. D. Nicolson for many specimens and localities)".
John Anthony's Flora of Sutherland reports that "James Grant of Wick collected extensively around Golspie and in Strath Halladale recording 120 new species (Bennett, 1882, 1889, 1893). Some of the more exciting ones are from the woodlands near Golspie".
Grant wrote:
The flora of Caithness, with an account of some recent discoveries: a paper read before the Biology section of the British association at Aberdeen, Sept. 12, 1885.
