Biography
Born 11th December 1911 at Isleham, Cambridgeshire.
1929 Joined Downing College Cambridge, obtaining first class honours in Botany, and PhD.
1935 Assistant Lecturer in Botany, University College Cardiff.
1938 Married fellow botanist Rowena Mabel Ferguson (siter married WG Philip becoming Judith Margaretta Philip). Two daughters, one of whom was also a botanist, Fiona M Audus (who became Mrs F. Pushman)
1940 joined the RAF, posted to Malaya 1941, taken prisoner of war by Japanese in Java 1942.
1946 Resumed botanical career as a Scientific Officer with the Agricultural Research Council Unit of Soil Metabolism, University College, Cardiff, 1948, became Lecturer in Plant Physiology.
1948 Professor of Botany at Bedford College, University of London.
1979 retired.
