Mary Parker née Cubitt (1821-1890)

Biography

Born 3 Oct 1821 at Hampstead, Middlesex, daughter of Thomas Cubitt the celebrated builder who, after 1850, lived at Denbies above Dorking, Surrey. Her uncle William Cubitt was an MP and Lord Mayor of London, who lived at Bedford Hill House, Balham.
In 1839 Thomas Cubitt is recorded as becoming a member of the Institution of Civil Engineers while living (presumably with his family) at Eaton Place, Belgrave Square, London.
Marriage of Mary to Charles Parker, 1st December 1846, at Clapham.
1851 living at the Vicarage in Bodiam, Sussex where Charles was Curate.
Between 1861-1881, Charles was Vicar at Bodiam.
Charles died in 1885 after which Mary is described as a widow, living 8 Chichester Terrace, Brighton.
Mary died in June 1890 at Warwick Square, Pimlico (her 'normal' residence was Chichester Terrace). Her brother the Rt Hon George Cubitt of Denbies, Surrey, was executor.

NOTE: Pimlico, and Kemps Town Brighton (site of Chichester Terrace), were both areas developed by Thomas Cubitt. Mary's brother George Cubitt eventually became the owner of both Bodiam Castle and Bodiam Vicarage.
