William Marshall (1815-1890) == biography == <William Marshall (1815-1890) of Ely, Cambs, solicitor and sometime coroner for Ely, botanist;
son of William Marshall of Ely, solicitor and naturalist; and elder brother of John Marshall, FRS, (1818-1891), anatomist, Professor of Surgery at UCL.
Marshall corresponded with J S Henslow, C C Babington, Rev L (Jenyns) Blomefield and Charles Darwin. An account of his correspondence with Blomefield is given by Vaughan in BSBI News 62: 32-33 (1992).
In 1852 his letters concerning the life-history of Elodea canadensis, the American pond weed, recently introduced to the British Isles, were published in the 'Cambridge Independent Press'.>
