N.B. reporting of the edit history is currently fairly unclear and misleading. Most edits made to specimens appear as a pair of 'add' and 'delete' entries, which may not be together in the list. There are also often 'minor' edits, which are made automatically (rather than due to user activity), for example to merge synonym names.

Label reads 'Mrs Purchas'. Miss A B Purchas was not born until 1881; this must have been W H Purchas' wife. He collected another specimen near Stroud on the same date.

I have real difficulty reading the superscripted abbreviations of title, this may well say 'Mrs' but possibly alternatively might be 'Rev'.

Not "Rev.": Purchas was not ordained Deacon until 1857.

"Mrs": I do not know the date of his marriage (to Frances, daughter of Robert Williams Esq of Aberbran, Brecon), but could it refer to his mother?

After training at Durham, he married Frances Williams, in 1858 (Clifton, Gloucestershire).
They appear to have had two sons Griffiths Thomas William Purchas & Arthur Bishop Purchas, and four daughters Anna Jane, Frances Eleanor, Alice Rosamund & Catherine Mary.
WHP's father was Thomas Whittlesey Purchas (born circa 1791), a wine merchant in Ross. His wife's name was Jane. He died in 1873.

More detail available if wanted.
