|
|
http://herbariaunited.org/specimen/319857/ is ex herb H G Carroll.
Is his the handwriting from those neat but anonymous Dublin sheets we've been seeing? eg http://herbariaunited.org/specimen/319840/
Although species name is not in the same Gothic style, note the heading at top of Drosera sheet. The Drosera sheet has lost part of its bottom edge, and I wonder could this be what has happened to the 'anonymous' sheets? On searching, H@H does not have any other H G Carroll sheets. |

The handwriting on the two sheets mentioned is that of two different people (note e.g. the slant of the writing and the formation of the lower-case 'd'). Apart from a mention in the Checklist on the GLASRA site at http://www.botanicgardens.ie/glasra/ns3_1.htm and his dates (?1825-1902) from Kent & Allen I can find no other reference to Carroll. |

Doubtless you're right, but I'm not sure why you refer to 'handwriting' whereas the writing is mostly calligraphic and therefore could involve deliberately different scripts |

Because I'm looking at personality traits. |
