N.B. reporting of the edit history is currently fairly unclear and misleading. Most edits made to specimens appear as a pair of 'add' and 'delete' entries, which may not be together in the list. There are also often 'minor' edits, which are made automatically (rather than due to user activity), for example to merge synonym names.

The locale is impenetrable. Tilatus? Pilatus? Polatus? Tolatus?

There is from memory a tourist spot called Pilatus in Switzerland (or Germany), a mountain-top observatory & restaurant. On lengthy gazing, the label reads Pilatus, 500m upwards. I don't know whether Townsend travelled in Switzerland, I find only 1 such H@H specimen which may just possibly have been collected by him, http://herbariaunited.org/specimen/316546/
but no other clues - foreign specimens are generally excluded from the H@H system

Pilatus Mountain, Switzerland, near Lucerne; burial place of Pontius Pilate; dragons once lived here.
