It is irrelevant that Haddiscoe is in today's Norfolk or any other modern county: the question to be asked is, in which vice county is it? As it happens it is in vc 27 East Norfolk.

But the more important question is, in which vice county is the plant? The one person most likely to know is the collector. The basic premise must be "The Collector is always right".

It is quite possible for a plant to be on one side of the vice county boundary and for the nearest significant placename to be on the other. In this case the vice county boundary is within yards of Haddiscoe Station.

The collector says Suffolk, so this plant should be assigned to vc 25 East Suffolk. The locality is "near" (the collector's word) Haddiscoe.

I wasn't referring to the Norfolk/Suffolk one because I don't know. But there are only 2 specimens and Houghton Bridge is on the river Arun in VC13 West Sussex and it looked as if that was related to the right hand specimen. Hope that makes my comment clear

Yes, only two spmns.

1. nr Haddiscoe. Lousley has affixed his own label in addition to Catcheside's.
