N.B. reporting of the edit history is currently fairly unclear and misleading. Most edits made to specimens appear as a pair of 'add' and 'delete' entries, which may not be together in the list. There are also often 'minor' edits, which are made automatically (rather than due to user activity), for example to merge synonym names.

failing to read most of this his script - Bennett lived in Croydon; "????
Croydon 1888". But first lines seem to be "Pass of ?something? Perth ex D
White" so not sure if he managed to grow it in Croydon or simply received it
there... Any better suggestions?

Bennett lived and worked from the High Street, Croydon. He grew many specimens from seed, cuttings and rootstock in his back garden. He even had a pond for potamogetons.

Think it also refers to Dr White - who was knowledgeable about the botany of Perthshire
