No, but I have seen that site on his sheets, and guessed The Lodge, Sandy, Beds (RSPB HQ) on the greensand ridge ....? |

Sandy Lodge at TQ0993, Northfield, South of Watford, Herts, seems a better possibility. Helsby has numerous specimens from around Watford. http://herbariaunited.org/specimen/330482/ edited by David Price is labelled 'Sandy Lodge, May 1922' no other details.; Helsby's numerous other collections this month are from Herts & Glos. The only Beds collections Helsby has, are from Leighton Buzzard, July 1923 and July 1926. |

Hello Dawn, I am writing on behalf of the South London Botanical Institute where we hold a number of Isaac Helsby's herbarium specimens. We have been contacted by a descendant of Mr Helsby who would like to get in touch with you as she can provide more information about her Great Grandfather. She has confirmed that he lived in Watford and did die in 1941. If you would like to learn more from her, please contact us at [email protected] and mark your e-mail FAO Jill W so I can pass on the relevant contact details. Thanks. Jill |
