N.B. reporting of the edit history is currently fairly unclear and misleading. Most edits made to specimens appear as a pair of 'add' and 'delete' entries, which may not be together in the list. There are also often 'minor' edits, which are made automatically (rather than due to user activity), for example to merge synonym names.

There are two other spmns (Hypericum x inodorum and Tussilago farfara) clearly labelled "coll I Helsby 1819".

In meiosis the birth year for Helsby is given as 1858. Many of his sheets before that date although clearly 'ex herb. Helsby' show details of having been collected by others, such as Thomas Clark (whom the database has as 16/12/1793-26/5/1864). This implies that he somehow 'inherited' some specimens.

Although he writes in a style worthy of his draughtsman's training, he sometimes makes errors. It may be instructive to see when his first visits to Oxhey and to Middlesex where after the supposed ones in '1819'. Do these suggest a slip of the pen?:

Hypericum androsaemum x hircinum = H. x inodorum GB, VC20 Hertfordshire, Oxhey 8/1819
Trifolium campestre GB, VC20 Hertfordshire, Oxhey 5/1919

Tussilago farfara GB, VC21 Middlesex, Willesden 3/1819
Melilotus officinalis GB, VC21 Middlesex, Harefield 7/1921
