N.B. reporting of the edit history is currently fairly unclear and misleading. Most edits made to specimens appear as a pair of 'add' and 'delete' entries, which may not be together in the list. There are also often 'minor' edits, which are made automatically (rather than due to user activity), for example to merge synonym names.

The location name is hard to decipher on this specimen. Of the outer hebridean islands (from the Barra Isles in the S to Lewis and Harris in the N) Vatersay, just south of Barra seems the most likely option.

This being ex herb Dulwich College I don't think the collector is J W Davis but the anonymous J H P who has another specimen in 8/1894, no. 314652 , which is clearly marked as Vatersay, so I think you have the location right.

I don't think the initials can possibly be read as 'JWD' and seem to be JHT - considered likely to be Teall or Teesdale

I confidently edited this in line with the vc110 database as JH Teesdale, but the handwriting examples and general distribution of records seem more likely to make it Teall as suggested. Perhaps I'll have to revisit the BM specimen (not my work to give it a collector initially). Suspect it may also say "J H T". Anyone like to venture a further opinion?
