notes:	Have seen nothing quite like this before! [written by CCT] [Det. slip commenting on original id as Mentha arvensis:] No. I make this M. x verticulata L. They are, in fact, excellent examples of the var. paluosa (Sole) Dr., and if you turn up the illustration in Sole's Menthae Britannicae you will see how near to Soles plant your specimens are. RA Graham. 24.1.53

Original label has 'Severn bank' but the carefully written transcription says 'Sewer bank'! Shrawley Wood does lie alongside the Severn so I trust the former - probably written by Townsend. Transcription includes taxon from Rex Graham's determination suggesting transcription was after January 1953.
