I'm intrigued that many of the specimens entered on h@h as S anglica, had been determined by P D Sell as S rupicola, eminens, porrigentiformis |

Sell, who was himself a Sorbus specialist and also co-author of Flora of GB & I, Sell & Murrell, would no doubt have examined Ley's herbarium in the course of his studies. The specimens in question, not being blind side-shoots, are not really suitable for diagnostic purposes. I think Sell's "S. rupicola" is in fact S. aria.
I have referred this (http://herbariaunited.org/core/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11776) sheet to a higher authority. |
