N.B. reporting of the edit history is currently fairly unclear and misleading. Most edits made to specimens appear as a pair of 'add' and 'delete' entries, which may not be together in the list. There are also often 'minor' edits, which are made automatically (rather than due to user activity), for example to merge synonym names.

This label has quite detailed site info, but unfortunately I can't magnify them enough on screen

Hi Nick,

The high resolution image appears not to have been copied across to the new server. I knew that some MANCH images had gone astray - I need to copy them from the old server. I'll post a follow-up message here once the missing images are reinstated.

J.H. Lewis's handwriting is notoriously difficult to decipher - so even with the better image I'm not sure we'll make any headway.

regards,

Tom

Sheet http://herbariaunited.org/specimen/214731/ has a similar label, which reads 'female. in the lane between the Patent A.... Works and the houses of Dungeon village l h s and ..... the ..... to the gate on the shore side of it'. I read this with difficulty, as again I had trouble getting an image on the screen. Dungeon village was lost to the waves in the last century, but was to the west of Hale, Lancs, and shows on the map as Dungeon Lane, Dungeon Marsh and Hale Cliff, SJ450821
