I think you're right - apparently Fulham Fields was the area east of Field Road Fulham, between Charing Cross Hospital and Earls Court, now built over. Perhaps this area was extensive enough to include Eel Brook Common, not far to the south east - otherwise would be suggestive of more than one site and supporting the idea that one at least could have been native.
