N.B. reporting of the edit history is currently fairly unclear and misleading. Most edits made to specimens appear as a pair of 'add' and 'delete' entries, which may not be together in the list. There are also often 'minor' edits, which are made automatically (rather than due to user activity), for example to merge synonym names.

This plant has the possible appearance either of C buxbaumii as originally labelled, or of C fusca (= nigra) as entered on h@h - but the four botanists involved in the original naming are likely to be right, and the provenance would be OK

Hi Nick,

Thanks very much for your comments on this.

When, as in this case, naming has gone awry (either due to a filing mistake at the herbarium or an error when I loaded the specimen to h@h) please feel free to more ruthlessly change the name given to the sheet. In this case the specimen ought to be treated as C. buxbaumii and as there is no reference to C. fusca on the sheet then I'd be inclined just to delete that name from the form (as the system would still track that the sheet had been (mis)filed as fusca).

regards,

Tom
