Date 1809 (1777 is number in the 10th ed. of London Catalogue for C. muricata) Bp of Carlisle's Sp = Samuel Goodenough collector. Prof. Beattie (co-collector or herbarium?) - James Beattie selected from the pick list which has the association in the database with the Kent & Allen entry, dates 1735-1810. These dates also appear in 'Dictionary Of British And Irish Botantists' where his place of birth is given as Laurencekirk and he is Professor of Natural History, Aberdeen. Strange that internet also finds James Beattie 1735-1803 Professor of Moral Philosophy and Logic at Marischal College, Aberdeen, and born in the same village!
