Visualising Irish Vice-county boundaries with Irish Openstreetmap.

This internet resource uses an Openstreetmap of Ireland onto which vice-county boundaries together with Ordnance Survey 1:25,000 scale 1941 maps (called Mapwarper GSG3906 1:25K) can be overlayed.

Selections can be made from a right-hand drop-down menu (click '+' to make this appear if necessary).

There is no search facility so you need to know the approximate location of interest before zooming in.

With 'Base layer' 'Openstreetmap.org' selected in the right-hand menu tick (only) 'Overlays':

Mapwarper GSG3906 1:25K
OSMIE vicecounties
OpenSnowMap Hillside (makes hills and mountains more visible)

To compare with current administrative county boundaries also tick 'OSMIE counties'.

This is the initial zoomed out view.

In the lower right corner 'Permalink' will generate a unique entry in the browser address bar.

An example of a link generated in such a way, including administrative county boundaries, shows Mount Misery north of the River Suir in VCH11 Kilkenny (pink boundary in the middle of the river) but partly in the administrative county of Waterford (green boundary on the north bank).
