geograph gives the grid ref. of 'Carron Turlough, Co. Clare, near to Carran, Castletown and Fahee, Clare, Ireland' as R2798.

As for the name beginning 'P', older maps show Poulacarran.

Irish grid reference finder shows R2798 but 'Point B' is more clearly in the thurlough around R283984 with Poulnabrone Dolmen marked to the NW of Carran.

Your link leads to 'Carron Polje', polje being from Croat/Serbian for field and now applied to 'a large flat plain found in karstic geological regions' Wikipedia.

My recollection of legend is that after the first Druid Ameirgin arrived, and invoked the spirit of the land of Ireland, the island grew steadily, with an orderly appearance of new mountains and lakes. Of course, there was no satellite photography then ......
