I suspect that Madeline Jackson was a student at Aberystwyth who collected and submitted her herbarium, and that there is a least one other, earlier, collector M. Jackson, most likely a relation of Albert Bruce Jackson.
There are nine h@h specimens from the collection of 'Aberystwyth University Herbarium' where the labels give the collector as 'M. J.' and 'Herb. Madeline Jackson' although the latter has been universally omitted during documentation. They are dated August/September 1962. The labels appear very similar to others used by Aberystwyth University Herbarium for the specimens of collectors who have no other examples outside this summer period, suggesting that these were student herbarium collections.
Four other sheets have been documented as from Madeline Jackson, 1938 or earlier, all but one (335081) associated with Albert Bruce Jackson, although in all cases the label says just 'M. Jackson'. There is another sheet (386523, 1911) where ABJ is accompanied by 'M. C. Jackson'. |
