The Oxford Dictionary of National Biography has biographies of many botanists. For non-subscribers access may achieved through participating Libraries or Institutions or by Athens authentication. Just google 'dnb' and follow the links. Athens also gives access to Jstor and thence to a number of Scientific Journals. All useful stuff.

Hi

We have just started writing a blog here at the Manchester Museum Herbarium. We have recently posted up some information that we have just discovered about Thomas Whitelegge that some of you may find interesting. I find that knowing about the collector's lives gives another dimension to the specimens.
