N.B. reporting of the edit history is currently fairly unclear and misleading. Most edits made to specimens appear as a pair of 'add' and 'delete' entries, which may not be together in the list. There are also often 'minor' edits, which are made automatically (rather than due to user activity), for example to merge synonym names.

You have read it correctly, the mystery is that on that date, Ley was collecting in the high hills of Breconshire; although he did collect repeatedly from Alston(e)field (both spellings possible) Staffs, including in the following month. I wonder if either he got in a very uncharacteristic muddle, or he collected the specimen in Brecs & then wrote his note by way of comparing varieties from different place - he seems to have been a great one for varieties of this species. Ley's pencil label is copied in another person's handwriting I think, but that changes nothing.

Many Thanks, I have come across several sheets of Ley's before very like this one, I wonder if he [like all of us] wrote scribbled into our field notebook in wind and rain then tried to sort it out later, perhaps some days later.
Indeed the other hand could be one of the other Ley's helping out?
Chris.
