N.B. reporting of the edit history is currently fairly unclear and misleading. Most edits made to specimens appear as a pair of 'add' and 'delete' entries, which may not be together in the list. There are also often 'minor' edits, which are made automatically (rather than due to user activity), for example to merge synonym names.

Typed note gives collection date as 1 Sep 1884 but handwritten label gives VIII suggesting eighth month, ie August? Also "E. F. Linton" given instead of WRL.

From a search of specimens it seems as though the two Linton brothers were collecting together in Scotland in August (but not Sept) 1884.

There is no mention of R caesia on the sheet and searching the literature I can't find any reference to R canina subsp [or var.] pruinosa. The location is right for R caesia but is it safe to call it this or should it stay as R canina agg.?
