N.B. reporting of the edit history is currently fairly unclear and misleading. Most edits made to specimens appear as a pair of 'add' and 'delete' entries, which may not be together in the list. There are also often 'minor' edits, which are made automatically (rather than due to user activity), for example to merge synonym names.

Does this label indicate collected at Aberystwyth? I have tentatively entered this - the map co-ordinates for Aberystwyth are 52.414°N 4.081°W (18°W would probably be just above the Titanic!?) Collector - J D Burnett has been entered - Is D J B in fact this person? 'J D Burnett' has no other specimens in H@H - a very similar sheet http://herbariaunited.org/specimen/243226/ also initialled DJB, has been entered as 'Janet D Butler'.

There are a lot of sheets labelled O J B and D J B with the same unusual localisation. I doubt there is any link with J D Burnett or Butler.

I should think they are collections by a student at Aberystwyth from the local area. If anyone wants to lay claim to collecting these then it would solve the mystery Smile

Note by Arthur Chater, which I would consider reliable: D J Bartley

does this mean that the 40 or so specimens attributed to O J B are in fact D J Bartley too?

Yes, and it looks to me like a 'D' however to re-edit such a large number of specimens would be rather brave unless beyond any doubt. My particular reason for saying Arthur Chater is reliable is that he collected in the same area at the same time, so I think his note was probably based on personal knowledge

As this is the only sheet from 'D J Bartley' best option would be:
(1) edit the collector here to 'O J B'
(2) edit collector 'O J B' to 'D J Bartley'

BUT: the OJB collector page says 'Possibly Jean Brooks', probably on the strength of sheet 271681 where there is a long written note by Jean Brooks and a label with these cryptic initials.

All the sheets from this/these collector(s) dated 7/1961, and from either Aberystwyth or Kington, Herefordshire.

Sheet 243226 with these initials has been recorded under 'Janet D Butler' but this collector seems unlikely as her other sheets bear six-digit grid references!

Interesting that Arthur Chater can suggest a name for this collector. He was using six-digit grid references at least as early as 1953!
