N.B. reporting of the edit history is currently fairly unclear and misleading. Most edits made to specimens appear as a pair of 'add' and 'delete' entries, which may not be together in the list. There are also often 'minor' edits, which are made automatically (rather than due to user activity), for example to merge synonym names.

I couldn't locate 'Nant Offeren'. This label potentially holds the key to a VC for at least some of the many sheets from 'Bangor, Ambiguous Locality' since it gives a clue at least to those specimens collected by J E Griffith.

Griffith was a Bangor man usually known (in the Welsh manner) as J E Griffith, Bangor; his Bangor is unequivocally in vc49 Caerns.

Sometimes "coll. J E Griffith, Bangor" is wrongly taken to mean that the plant was collected in Bangor.

This spmn is labelled "Loc...... near Bangor"; vc49 (SH57) but I can't find Nant Offeren.

"I notice that there is a "Nant Uffern" near the Railway Station at Bangor, North Wales. ...... It seems now Nant Uffern in Bangor is Nant Offeren."
http://www.terrynorm.ic24.net/place%20names.htm

A Victorian euphemism - the Welsh "Uffern" is Hell; "Offeren" is the RC Mass!
