Biography
Born 7th June 1814.
Married 1859 to Miss Charlotte Elizabeth Richardson Hay heiress of Seggieden in Perthshire, and took her family name.
Died 3rd January 1896.
One of twenty founders, and first president of the British Ornithologists' Union in 1858.
Devoted last 20 years of his life to the natural history of Perthshire and Tayside.
