yes that looks like it, but I can't find anything like that on or near the Avon in G'shire, and that sheet hasn't pinned it down either :(

Other specimens come from Hanum and Cleeve Wood which look possible as locations but I simply can't find Tresleford.

What I find worrying about Tresleford is that when you type it into Google all the results point back to herbaria@home!

Yup, I tried that too and wtp draw a blank i checked all varieties of maps along the Avon but also drew a blank. :(

I think that the name is J(oseph) H(ume) Hume Rothery, who was a member of the Cotteswold Field Club - which has appeared several times on H@H


Census suggests retired barrister (& patent lawyer ?) and also p/t lecturer, born in Lancashire 1866, died 1957. Son William Hume Rothery - (Oxford) chemist and metallurgist.

I think Freshford, as there are other sheets from there of this species, despite being more on Wilts/Somerset border rather than Glos as stated, eg http://herbariaunited.org/specimen/353617/ ('Glos'); http://herbariaunited.org/specimen/353615/ ('near Bath'); Hume-Rothery was perhaps a relative of Hume.
