Mr William Curnow (?1809-24/1/1887)


Born 1 November, 1809, Madron, Newlyn. Married Jane Kneebone (? taken from LDS record) in Oct 1835. 1841 through to 1881 census records him (and his family) as living at Pembroke Cottage, Paul, Newlyn (Penzance). Two children (William and Ann). Market gardener - managed some 11/12 acres and three labourers (1871 census). Many sheets at H@H, nearly all specimens collected locally. He supplied mosses for Rabenhorst - Bryotheca Europaea. He contributed to the Phytologist, Journal of Botany and the Penzance Natural History Society.
